Books I'm reading I've started reading books again, and every time I get done reading a page or two, I like to expand on what I've read by writing about it here and elsewhere. Right now 1 of 4 books reading is Bill O'Reilly's 'Killing the Mob', and man what a book it it, history doesn't lie, and one thing for sure, there has never been a 'clean' uncorrupt period in this nations history...the whole Norman Rockwell image or era, sure that occurred, but looming just out of view was all the corruption, and bribes and Bonnie and Clyde, Delanger type bank robbers, and the Mafia that kept officials in line, including the cops. It's late, but in future posts will share more about this fascinating book and look into the history of organized crime in America.

I read this book cover to cover, the first time I've done that in over a decade, probably longer actually.
It was a good book, and I learned a lot, but one thing I learned, America has never been a 'clean' place, on the surface it's presented that way, but when you read this book, you'll learn nothing could of been further from the truth.
Not saying America is a bad place, for corruption lays within the hearts of all men around the world, but America does have a way of 'dressing up darkness', better than most nations do.
Hopefully can come back here and share things I learned about the Italian organized crime over the last 100 years, which had it's hands in everything, and I do mean everything, and no wonder they use to say don't go to adult porn sites, and especially don't give your credit card numbers on those sites, read the book to find out why (towards the ending pages)
Anyways this is a good book and I do recommend it, Bill O'Reilly may of annoyed you as a host on Fox, but the guy is actually a pretty good Author, and fair about history.

Cult of Glory - Doug, J, Swanson
About 45% into this book, I read a few pages at a time, usually while in the bathroom, but boy does this book give good inside into the early days of America, and or more specifically the role 'Texas Rangers' played in those early days.
All I can say, is unless 'white', it's hard to be or feel proud of the bloodshed that took place back then as Indians resisted being pushed off their land by ever incroaching settlers and the Government.
There was brutality on both sides though, kind of like which came first, the chicken or the egg?
Who initiated the violence first, the settlers or the Indians.
But then again how can you settle on other peoples land, hunting lands, burial grounds, ect, and not consider that a act of violence?
It would be like me 'settling' into someone else house without their permission.
It's all history now, but it was a very gory ugly period, between the Mexican wars, the Indian wars, and then the civil war, it was a very bloody history or time period for sure, and a very racist one as well.
Again, unless 'white', not sure how any one could say America was 'great' back then....bloody and racist, for sure, great?...just depends on which side you were on back then I suppose.

Cult of Glory book -Doug J Swanson Also learning that 'whites' scalped Indians just as much, if not more, than the Indians scalped them. And when the 'whites' scalped Indians, these scalps were traded for value, often soldiers would return and give them to their lovers as gifts, and other odd stuff that people did back then. Even bounties were put out for 'Indian Hunters' to bring back India scalps. This was a very gross time in American history.

Woke Inc I haven't bought or read this book yet, but heard the Author on the radio today while driving, and well it seems like a compelling read about how the nature of social media has really changed since it's founders original vision of free speech platforms, which are now more like publications in that 'free speech', expression, thoughts and ideas are no longer allowed on the big social platforms, even though they still enjoy the whole '232' provision which protects them from lawsuits. But because big tech is so big now, so wealthy, has so much influence in D.C., no politician dares do anything about it, sure Ted Cruz and a few others hold hearings now and then, but in the end it's just theater and nothing ever changes. Big tech simply drops some more dime in their pockets and the politicians shat up about it. That being said this book gives a much better in depth look at what's going on, and it's kind of scary. The only good thing is that other more freedom loving platforms are being created, and challenging the dominance of twitter, FB and ect. Cause twitter and FB and ect, one thing about those sites, they need people, and if they continue to drive away people, that means their influence will begin to wane, so in the end if they become to 'totalitarian', there's nothing saying people have to continue to use their platforms, and folks are already leaving in droves to more freedom respecting platforms like gettr.com/onboarding and other social sites millions are migrating to.

Killing the Mob - Bill O'Reily One of the most educational books about American history that I've ever read. I've had it for more than a year, and now it's become a 'bathroom book' that I keep reading sections of over and over again. 1. The F.B.I., according to facts in this book, has never been on the 'straight and straight'. Hoover would totally fit into today's FBI...dude had files on many. 2. Hoover never got married, was a life long bachelor, but did have a close male companion. 3. Hoover denied the existance of the mob, for many decades, why?...read the book and find out. That and just more really interesting things about Americas past that most don't know about. This is a very historically honest book, many so called conservatives would do well to read it. To be continued.

Homelessness, the good, the bad and the wonders of Homelessness isn't as bad as some might think, if managed properly. Homelessness can actually propel you to a better place in life, if done correctly. Read the book, buy the book, and share it with someone who's homeless or about to be. The author 'been there and done that', and bounced back. The question is though, bounced back to what?
