What do you do when you find out the vehicle or truck you're driving around in all day, maybe even living in, could be slowly killing you? How sick would it be if you found out the Freightliner truck you're driving is slowly killing you, poisoning you, do to toxic substances the interior is composed of?
All those plastics, and 'bezene' levels. Or even toxic seatbelts laced with 'nickel', which some are allergic to.
Watch the video, some of these chemicals can cause bone cancer, and may explain why you feel so terrible after your shiftI know this, the industry could give a F about your health, I mean while they're pushing safety this and safety that, they have you riding all up in a toxic environment without doing proper research. Having you strap around your chest a seatbelt laced with toxic dyes (do your own research), that could be weakening your heart, and or ect. And once sick, you're instantly discarded and replaced. You, we, I, mean nothing, absolutely nothing to big industry, we're simply disposable labor commodities.

Right now, my job adds zero satisfaction to my life, and then when off, further insulted by having to take rumper room level training courses online. Hyper insulting.
The only reason I don't quite is because I need an income, and the days worked per week are relatively short compared to other driving jobs, and the boss pretty much leaves you alone.
It's not their fault I'm so burned out on driving.

I'll tell trucking to go to hell in a heartbeat if it dares intrude in on my side passions.
Been trucking over 20 years, and haven't made a single friend in the industry, is how dry, and lonesome this trade is. You're treated like crap. There is no hall of fame, no thank you, in trucking, you're just used like a dog until tired, and then shoved aside for new meat.

Hell ye, I'll quit in a heartbeat, actually I've learned it's better to get fired, that way you get unemployment check, and at my age, why not. But ye, my side passion comes before some stupid safety meeting.
As a driver, trucking vomits over me, fine, but the minute trucking tries to intrude into my off time passion, then we have an issue.

One good thing about trucking, having a cdl, is that there's always a shortage of labor, so getting a new job isn't very difficult at all in this day and age when younger types hate working at all.

Trucking is one of the few industries where the longer you do it, the more dumber you're treated by the industry.

The trucking industry makes you feel so small as a driver
Driving a big rig is only fun when you 'want to do it', when you feel you're getting something out of it, be it travel, adventure, ect, but the minute you stop feeling like you're getting something out of it other than a check, the love affair you have for trucking will cease.
Mindless training videos written by those who've never driven.
Narcistic behind the scenes managers who can't wait to pounce on you and blame you the minute something goes wrong. And stuff like 'smart drive', just give these behind the scenes narcissists more tools to annoy you and critique your driving.
As a driver you have no say in anything, I mean maybe if a owner operator, have own authority and all, but who does that anymore?
most older drivers were in it, then got out of it, sold trucks, ect, cause it's a sham for most, all the revenue floats upwards, and not to the ones actually doing the physical work.
There really is no glory in trucking anymore, like days of old, when all drivers had CB radios, supported one another, ect...not today....today drivers are all off into their own worlds, cell phones, music. And now you have a lot of urban, city folks driving, B folks, females, who totally lack any type of personality.
It's just the commradidty from years ago is gone.
Just drive by a rest area, no activity, the trucks just pull in and park (not when I first started) Even rest areas were like a party for truckers, back in the day...now they're more like graveyards, and same with most truck stops, just grave yards, no activity, nothing.
Oh well, at least with this current job I'm home daily, cause if weren't, than I just couldn't do it.

I don't know what it is about my job, driving, but when I finally get off, I feel so sapped of creativity, I feel aloof, and don't really want to focus on anything.
I think cause with driving, especially if drive long routes, you really don't have to focus on small stuff....but you do have to focus on a lot of mini things occurring as you drive, 10's of 1000's of vehicles in the course of your shift, and it does tend to drain you, at least it drains me, especially if no longer stimulated by the experience.

I ordered a cot, that way, when have to wait at warehouse, can like lay out in cot, next to truck, since I drive a day cab.
Rest so matters when driving. Nothing worse than driving while feeling tired or drowsy.
