Anyways, another day of work lays ahead. Many drivers are quiting this company, cause they're ending many bonus incentive type of pay, and other stuff.
I work for a company that's subcontracted with a larger company, and it's the larger company who's ways are driving drivers away. These larger companies think they're 'god', but if they can't even pay you right, to me they're more like gog and magog, the devil and demon spoken of in the bible.
People will put up with headaches, if compensated properly, but if not going to pay drivers right, in this era of inflation, drivers will leave a bad company in a heartbeat, where labor is short.
Mid level management geeks, it's their policies that drive many good drivers away. You know, the types who don't drive, but think they know it all and alwys implimenting new rules.

A driver testing out new dashcam video, while also educating others at the same time
The transportation industry is filled with upper management snobs, who fail to appreciate the years, or decades of experience that many 'old timers' have.
Instead they, these snobs, feel the need to make you, as a driver, watch kindergarten level training videos that totally insult your intelligence.
It's drivers who should be making the training videos, not Harvard snobs who've never driven.

I gotta work tomorrow. I always dread the night, or day before work, mainly the night as the hours, minutes, tick down before going to bed. I'm sober now, but drank last previous 2 nights....and it effected my productivity during off time.
But maybe, at least on the first night, maybe I needed to get drunk, in that it gave me the mindset to call a relative I haven't in a while, but needed to for my own sake....a parent of mine that I've been separated from for a long time.
Sometimes drinking, sadly but true, does give you the courage you need to do something, or reach out to another, you might not have, do to ego, being afraid, feeling emotionally frail ect.
Anyways, that's behind me now, time ust keeps moving ahead, whether we're ready for tomorrow or not.

Working in the heat really does suck, especially the southern heat. When you get home, ust a whole film of goo on you, you have to shower, or you'll go nuts. I have no idea how the slaves endured this type of whether for hundreds of years, multiple generations, with no way to cool down at night, slave housing with no a/c, no bathroom, mosquitoes, bugs, rats, mice...how did they do it? And this would have been considered a mansion back in the day, yet still, wow. God is cruel, so cruel to some, yet many of the slaves still worshipped the very god their masters did, that makes zero since to me.

Trucking companies never ever seem to consider promoting drivers to non driving positions, instead always hire others from the outside, after a while that becomes a bit offensive
Trucking companies want you to start off as a driver and end your career as a driver, they never offer you schooling to improve your upward mobility, like other companies do, instead they ust hire 'experts' from the outside who've never driven before.
It gets to be insulting after a while, and is why if want to grow, have to do it on your own...take courses on your own.

These long days, I tell ya. You come in, then clean up, wash down, maybe eat something, then it's like time for bed. But hey, when only work 3 days a week what do you expect?
But still, maybe be planning a career change soon, but have to take online courses for it, and it costs. But sooner or later I'm going to need a job I can do from home.

Now days, actually for the last few decades, more and more women are getting into trucking Trucking can be a lot of things, as with any job or career....or trucking can be like a bad marriage also... www.thetruckersreport.com/truckingindustryforum/threads/trucking-can-be-like-a-bad-marriage.68681/That was actually 'me', in that 'trucking can be like a bad marriage', thread, on the Truckers report, years and years ago. But that aside, life is about growing and exploring. But ye, trucking can be like a bad marriage, just depends on where your heart and soul is at the time. But like with anything, you need to grow, and just like if your spouse doesn't grow with you, then you tend to drift apart. Not that trucking hasn't grown and changed, but often times those new changes has diminished the value of the trucker more and more into nothing more than mindless labor. But again, trucking covers a very broad area of jobs. 1. Over the road trucking, sleeper trucks, truck stops, ect 2. Local container type of trucking, in and out of the ports 3. Class B type of trucking, as in dump trucks, cement trucks, local stuff, where in and out of shop daily. 4. Oversized load type of trucking. 5. Flatbed, step deck, tankers. And I could go on, the main thing is to find your niche, and or some even go on to create their own trucking companies, where they're known as 'Owner operators'. Or you can 'lease to own' your own truck (Do not do that, lol) Bottom line, whichever type of trucking you decide on, your mind and heart has to be into it, like with anything else. Also, there's the whole admin side of logistics, like freight broker, freight handler, dispatcher, terminal manager, ect, even Warehouse careers. The demand for freight is only growing, so either path you chose you'll do OK at and or even prosper, just remember, always continue to educate yourself along the way, cause as you get older, the more career options you have, the more you'll thank yourself.

Heck no not coming in on my day off!
Heck, I'm still recovering from last weeks shift, when I was sick, and worked anyways, and now on my day off asked if I wanted to come in and cover another, hell no! I never miss a day of work when scheduled, cause I don't want to burden others, why can't others do the same?
Heck, I'm still a bit under the weather, and need every single hour, day, of my time off to recoup and recovery. I have a job that requires 100% attention when on duty, and it drains the brain, driving a truck is no joke man, one mistake and people die or get injured, and you lose your obs.
Not only that, but at my age, what is a 300 dollar bonus to give up more than 3/4's of my day, time and energy, and health??
Please.... At my age chump change means very little to me anymore, what matters is life changing money, as in $5000.00 or more, money lie that will move me, but chump change, at my age, are you kidding me??
I'm not some high school student looking to earn extra money for a date....come on.
For 300 dollars I'm gonna risk getting in a career ending accident or getting sick again by going out when not fully recovered, or and even just peace of mind, and what that leads to as far as creative opportunities that I can never do while at work. Sorry, to me, time off is like a paycheck.
Look, I'm poor, and 300 dollars isn't going to change that, I can work on my day off, and I'll still be poor, nothing will change, nothing!!
